The CLAAS name stands for professional equipment, from the simple ROLLANT to the feature-rich VARIANT. Proven in the toughest conditions world-wide all CLAAS round balers form dense bales, with unparalleled throughput and industry exclusive reliable bale starting.
Professional grade.Quickly baling large quantities of forage is a breeze with the ROLLANT 540 RC PRO fixed chamber baler. The ROTO CUT rotor sizes forage into lengths of 3.2 inches. This cut forage breaks apart easily and mixes quickly in the TMR, taking less time and fuel. This also leads to higher feed-to-gain and less wasted feed to clean and spread. The MAXIMUM PRESSURE SYSTEM (MPS) transforms silage, hay, or straw into dense bales with cores that are easy to spear for moving the bale.
Features may include:Quick maintenance. All bearings are greased with just two grease zerks on each side of the baler. Through the centralized manual lubrication, the time required to grease is reduced, the correct amount gets applied, and hard-to-reach bearings don't get missed. The reliability of moving parts is increased and operators can spend more time operating rather than maintaining.
Power flow. For tightly compacted bales, the tractor power directly drives the rollers through heavy-duty 1.25" and 1" chains. Chains securely transfer power throughout the machine and are tensioned with springs that are able to absorb shocks. Paired with the standard chain lubrication, all chains including those for the pick-up receive lubrication on an interval not related to tailgate cycles. With 1.7 gallon (6.3 L) capacity, long working days are handled without needing refills, and wear is kept as low as possible even in low-yielding crops.
Nonstop operation.Baling is hard work, and speed is of the essence. That means high daily throughput rates and intelligent systems are needed to help the operator get the job done. A floor and knife lowering function is just the ticket for high capacity and operator comfort. The movement of the floor is indicated on the control terminal as visual and acoustic signals. This means the operator is alerted to the threat of blockages in time and can react accordingly –from the comfort of the cab. Any blockages that do occur can be easily and quickly cleared using the operator terminal, without having to leave the cab. The drop floor opens up and the rotor sweeps the blockage material straight into the bale chamber. When it closes again, the knives swing back in automatically and operation resumes.
Compaction where it counts. For quality silage, the crop has to be formed quickly into high-density bales. In the ROLLANT, this is done with ultra-robust, freely rotating steel rollers. Profile webs on the rollers perform an active crop feed function. As a result, even in moist conditions, the crop is pressed into firm round bales with excellent shape retention. In the new ROLLANT 540 with heavy-duty rollers, the sidewalls are 4 mm thick, for a long service life. The shaft flange is bolted, so it can be replaced if required. Rock-hard bales are guaranteed with MPS because of the extra pressure delivered by the pivoting three-roller segment in the ROLLANT tailgate. As the bale increases in diameter, the three MPS rollers are pushed back up into their stop position by the bale. This results in perfectly compacted,high-density bales even at high ground speeds.
